Habitat for Humanity of Northeast Arkansas Homeownership Program Applications

JONESBORO, AR. (May 12, 2025) - Habitat for Humanity of Northeast Arkansas is accepting applications for the Homeownership Program starting on May 15, 2025. Applications can be picked up in the main office - 520 W. Monroe Ave., the ReStore - 3610 E. Highland Drive, Jonesboro, or online at habitatnea.org.

"Affordable home ownership is an essential need," said Angy Abaunza, Executive Director for Habitat for Humanity of Northeast Arkansas. As applications become available, "we are seeking out qualifying applications to own a Habitat home."

Habitat for Humanity of Northeast Arkansas builds strength, stability, and self-reliance through shelter in Jonesboro and Paragould. "While homeownership is a great investment in our communities, it is also a powerful reminder that home ownership is the key to stability, growth, and opportunities," said Darlene Nicks, Habitat's Homeownership Services Chair. With the homeownership program, Habitat provides affordable homeownership opportunities for families that have demonstrated a need for housing and meet program qualifications; which include income qualification, partnership hours, financial education, and other requirements included in the application.

Habitat builds and rehabilitates affordable homes in partnership with the community and selected homeowners. The affordable Habitat home loans are zero-interest rate mortgage with monthly payments set at the affordability of the homeowner. Research shows that families with access to stable, safe, and healthy affordable housing conditions have better health, financial freedom, and children show a significant improvement in academics. Those homeowners that are willing to do the work show significant improvement in their quality of life.
