Squirrels are nature's gardener because they forget where they bury their nuts! Join a park interpreter to discover a day in the life of a squirrel. Then, pretend to be a squirrel and play a game to test your memory. This is a drop-in program. Feel free to stop by whenever you'd like.. Meet at the Visitor Center.

HIKE TO MIDNIGHT
Walk into a new year at Crowley's Ridge State Park, literally! We will start on the CCC Pavilion. Then, we will hike on the Pavilion Trail and part of Spider Creek Trail. This hike is moderate difficulty. Limited flashlights will be provided. Please bring your flashlight and wear sturdy walking shoes. Participants will receive hot chocolate and trail mix (while supplies last) to complete the celebration. Registration is required. Because our trails normally close at sundown, this is a very special hike. Please register at the visitor center or by calling the visitor center at 870-573-6751. Registration ends on Tuesday, December 31 at 5pm. Meet at the CCC Pavilion.

FIRST DAY HIKE - STORYWALK: OVER AND UNDER THE SNOW READ ALOUD
Start your new year with a warm story about animals in the snow while strolling on Lake Ponder Trail. Join a park interpreter in a read-aloud of Over and Under the Snow by Kate Messner. This story is appropriate for kids ages 3-7 but everybody is welcome. Although the First Day Hike is a one-time event, the StoryWalk can be enjoyed as a self-guided activity. Over and Under the Snow by Kate Messner will be on display from Friday, December 20, 2024-Sunday, January 5, 2025. Lake Ponder is a 0.5-mile, flat, paved, and ADA-accessible trail. Please wear weather-appropriate clothing and sturdy walking shoes. #ArStateParks #FirstDayHikes. Meet at the playground.
